2017 Michigan Amateur Radio Club Newsletter Contest Results

We recently completed the biennial Amateur Radio Club Newsletter
competition and I am very pleased to announce the 2017 winner and

The runner up newsletter is the LED, which is published by the
Livingston Amateur Radio Klub. The editor is Mary Kruger, W8MCK.

The winner of the Michigan ARRL Section Newsletter Contest is…..(drum
roll, please):

The Waveguide from the Lapeer Amateur Radio Association. The editor is
Daniel Peters, KE8CFI.

Both newsletters are outstanding and they both had identical scores from
our panel of judges. The Waveguide won out in the end in the tiebreaker,
but both are superlative examples of the amateur radio newsletter art.

Many thanks to the editors of the newsletters that were submitted for
the 2017 contest. For all the rest of the newsletters that didn’t
participate, don’t sell your products short. Please look at our
winners and see what they have done to make their newsletters
informative and interesting and on a personal level with the members of
the club.

The next step for the Waveguide is to go up against the best from the
Ohio and Kentucky ARRL sections to determine the best newsletter in the
ARRL Great Lakes Division.

You can find a copy of the Waveguide from the Lapeer ARA and its
competition here: http://arrl-greatlakes.org/newsletter/index.html

You can find an archive of the LED from the Livingston ARK here:

Both the winner and runner-up will be presented with award plaques at
the 2017 Great Lakes Division Convention at Michigan International
Speedway (GLHamCon) on October 7 during the Awards Program.

Again, congratulations to the editors of both the Waveguide and the LED
newsletters for your fine examples of the art of amateur radio
newsletters and best of luck to the Waveguide in the coming competition
with the Ohio and Kentucky entries.

See you @ MIS!

Larry, WB8R
